Stopzilla
Reviews and Complaints
Stopzilla has no virus definition updates and no support
The latest updates state it was done on Aug 5 2020 - today is Sept. 30 2020.
Every time I call they say a new release is coming soon. Now they don't even respond.
User's recommendation: Do not even try the trial version and definitely do not buy

Verified ReviewerLack of support
There were actually no virus definitions updated although it said it was downloading virus definition updates. After a month of calling and emails, there was no fix to the problem AND no status updates.
Stopzilla use to be good but now something has changed. If anyone knows of a legitimate competitor to STOPZILLA, please let us know.
Thank You

Verified ReviewerUnresolved Problem
I have been using STOPzilla (IS3) for over ten years. In 2019 I renewed my subscription thru Jan.
2022. Since early April 2020, I have no longer been able to install timely updates. A customer support agent informed me a week ago on the telephone that the problem exists at their end and is being fixed. Yesterday, May 7, 2020, I called customer support again and was told that they are dealing with a server problem.
When I asked when they expect to have it fixed, I got the reply: "Unfortunately, we cannot tell you, but don't worry, your PC is still protected".
Well, I am not taking any chances. I deactivated STOPzilla and purchased/installed TotalAV instead.
- Seemed to be effective for the 10 years that i used it
- No new updates can be installed as of the end of april

Fraudulent Charge
This is total fraud!
I found a $50 charge on my credit card from StopZilla (oddly, it was charged while traveling from California to Mexico). The last time I made a purchase with StopZilla was in 2009.
It's now 2020--even my bank confirmed this. He admitted it was a "mistake."
I gave him my email and he started to "look it up." But because of "all the issues (COVID-19), the computer was really slow." I told him I had all the time in the world. He couldn't find my email although I looked in my inbox and had an email from StopZilla from within the past year. Then I gave him my last name, which is very uncommon.
Not wanting to give him my first name I asked him if he saw my last name. He said yes but there "were so many of those names." When I asked him to repeat my last name, he repeated something that was barely even close. We went through the "sorry, this might take a long time because the computer is very slow," and then finally he acquiesced.
He sent an email stating they will refund my card. We'll see.
This is so dirty.
User's recommendation: Do not support this fraudulent company. Please.
Life time multi key holder wondering if it’s still safe
I have four lifetime subscriptions that I paid for years ago-back when they were really an awesome program (new but really fast risers). Now a days I’m not sure it even works
Cant update
This started to happen about 6 months ago, it stops updating, took it off my computer in the end. It states that I am in the wrong time zone and/or not connected to the internet (both of which is not true).
I am a STOP ZILLA life time member, but have no reluctantly removed it from the computer and am now using windows own virus checker. I have spoken to the help desk team and they say that there is a new engine being produced and not to worry about viruses as the software will capture them, but I cant see how if I cant update the software.
- Unprofessionalism of the team
Expired notices from stopzilla
I'm getting expired notices on both computers when I have 6 months left. I click on the notice and get the name and address and credit card request but I don't get the option to fill in the license key anymore.
The price has a least doubled. I open stopzilla and it shows expired but doesn't give the option to fill in a key. I still have the original key I was going to try. Stopzilla still does a scan normally or says it does.
I sent a PrtScr of the expired notice and one of the invoice that shows paid up for half a year yet and got no response.
However, they did OK reusing the license code when I had to do a computer reset. No way I'm renewing, it's bye bye stopzilla.

RANSOMWARE - BEWARE
As a CTO of an Enterprise grade software company, I have had a couple dealings here and there with software over my 16 years as a CTO. I can say with certainty that things are really unethical about the way this company produces their sales revenue.
They first call my mother-in-law and are very aggressive and borderline rude to her trying to convince her that she has a virus and that she needs to install their software to stop the infection. She does (facepalm) then agrees to their 5 years of support as well. I eventually learn of this but what is done is done. Fast Forward 6 months - now it's upsell time!!! This is where the "Ransomware" comes into play.
They call her again, telling her that now someone is trying to *** into her PC from Russia. They would be willing to help her IF she was willing to purchase their Network Security Suite. By now she has gotten an ear full from me and tells them no, I need to consult my Son-in-law. They get angry and pressure her more, she finally gets their call back number and calls me upset she has someone trying to *** into her PC. She said they told her that Microsoft was going to lock her out of her PC if she didn't solve the *** issue she was dealing with. They were trying to steal her credit card information from her emails. She then goes to turn on the PC for me to remote into the desktop to find that she has been locked out of her PC. Coincidence that there is a Windows 2000 style lock dialog box on start-up. I could not boot even into Safe Mode, it too had the same lock on the OS.
When I called the company the company was very rude. At first, there was no company name given and he was very elusive until I asked if he represented STOPZilla, which he agreed. Then he would not assist until he got her information "to look up her account". Then he put us on hold. The guy that returned was not the same guy who answered and he immediately began chewing out my mother in law because she didn't listen to him two days ago when he told her that Microsoft was going to lock her out of her PC. Thing is, it was only 30 minutes ago he said this, so clue #1 this is a common practice and he has no idea which person he is talking to and when he used that threat.
When they called the next day, I was at her house. I was trying to gain access to her PC. He said someone was trying to *** into her emails.
I then said Clue #2 this is BS, she uses Yahoo mail online, there is no "Email" to *** into on her PC. He then said I didn't know what I was talking about, when she installed STOPzilla, it also was monitoring other things which alerted them to this intrusion. OK, so what he just admitted to me was that they also put spyware on the PC to upsell when they get a notice of a network intrusion? No, I think they are the network intrusion!!! Like the old rumor that the Anti-virus companies create the virus to sell you the cure, these guys do it blatantly!
She did not buy their Network Security Suite and coincidently her PC was locked out just as predicted by the guy that was being such an *** to her. Coincidence that the lock happened within minutes of the call and her denying to purchase their software? You decide if its ransomware or not, but in my experience, it most certainly is! This is NOT a company to do business with!! I ended up becoming very belligerent on the phone when the guy threatened me to file a harassment suit against me - when he was the one that had repeatedly called me back after I told him to cancel her account, remove her number from their call list, and had her change her credit card number. I finally lost it and cursed him out and suggested he lose my number quickly.
I have now lost a day wiping her hard drive, reinstalling Windows 7, upgrading it back to Windows 10 and reinstalling all her software. Their BS games cost me a full work day and 8 hours of drive time to get her and back. I want to tell the world so the world stops giving them money to run their games on the elderly, ignorant, and unsuspecting. They use harassment and bullying techniques as sales tools. From my personal perspective - they are scam, they are run by people with no morals or respect for their customers.
Stopzilla uses vendors and does not check they are providing the service
Great at looking after computer, however they convinced me to sign up for identity force..... 14.95a month.....
I decided I did not need this and called the number for member services ,the heading on the email showed identity force and stopzilla.... they said the hadn't processed so no problem I would not be billed. On contacting stopzilla they said no record of phone call and they had biled me fr 6 moths.
Checked with identity force they confirmed I had can cancelled.Stopzilla said my responsibility to check my credit card. They didn't seem to understand that they were billing for a service I had not received. .billing staff immovable and not allowed to grant refunds as they had paid identity force..weird and unhelpful people maybe they are receiving lots of complaints
- There assistance in cleaning computer
- Its a scam
- Idiots in their billing department unbendable

Stopzilla products
I have to say my loyalty to Stopzilla was cemented when my son got into a bunch of "how you say" unacceptable websites which promptly infected my machine. And when I say infected I mean internet, boot, everything.
I finally got through with a safe mode start. Stopzilla ran overnight. In the morning I restarted the machine and all the problems were gone. I had Avast on it and it was not able to even start to clean the drive.
I have been very happy with the product including the cleaner they have too.
I do disagree with auto renewals and have told them I will renew when I want.

We paid $349.00 to get this antivirus and anti infection virus . We were guarenteed that nothing would get threw this program.
That they have people constantly monitoring to protect our computer. But 26 days after installing stopzilla into our computer, it crashed. We spent a few hours on yhe phone with Vtech that we got this threw to no avail we are now having to replace our brand new Dell computer. Thank goodness we got the full warrentee to protect our purchase.
We contacted stopzilla and told them to cancel immediately and credit our card. We also filed a dispute with our card company. I had another antivirus company that I used in the past and am going to continue with that service. Avira proved themselves to ne reputable.
I would not revommend anyone to use stopzilla. I was very disappointed.
I have been taken for $1,500 in the past 2 years
We bought a new computer in 2012. I called Comcast who is our carrier and they gave me the name of someone to call.
Somehow, after trial and error I got in touch with Stopvilla. They gave me a price of $399 which I paid. Every 6 months or so they would call and tell me I needed to upgrade and charge me another $299 or so. I ended up paying in 2 years $1,500.
My subscription expired this month and they called. The person on the other end, said that if I didn't renew they would turn off my e-mail and my computer because it had been hacked into. (e-mail hacked by Russia).
I am 68 years old and on social security and can't afford to go through this.
90 Year Grandmother told must buy Stopzilla or computer would explode
My 90 yo German grandmother saw an ad online thats said she must buy Stopzilla antivirus program or her computer would not work. My ninety year-old German grandmother saw an ad online on IE browser which told her that she must to purchase StopZilla software product for $300 or her computer would not work.
She was then called and told she must download this $300 program for her computer to work and that if she didn't she would no longer be able to receive emails. She was also signed up for recurring monthly payments for the software. She called and cancelled this transaction with her bank and cancelled the debit card. She uninstalled the StopZilla program.
The program is not effective and contains spyware. She also tried calling three different numbers to dispute the charge, but they rang without an answer or message. Those three numbers were: 1-87*-493-****, 1-88*-475-****, 1-87*-493-**** I believe this is a scam. I emailed the company and requested the transaction be voided.
I received an email back from a non-english speaker. Stating:"I am sorry for the misunderstanding with the phone numbers but Not one belong to our company, please contact us trough 188* 803 ****. Or sent your name, or your grandmother name and phone number, We are a company with 100% customer Satisfaction, and will be a please to resolve any misunderstanding.
Thanks Billing at TTSUSA" I've voided the transaction with the bank and now demanded that it be voided on their end without a response. I'm reporting this here and to the FTC.

I just had my husband contact stopzilla to cancel my contract with them and they have now totally distroyed my computer. I can not even get the internet on it which we were able to do prior to the cancelling of our contract.
They had my husband go into the computer commands and said they could get it restordd. But instead they wiped everything all programs all support everything. I recorded the conversation with the tech support and will be contacting a lawyer to see about a law suite.
I covered myself and they are in for a suppina and a law suite. I am not going to be your patsy and sit back and do nothing.

I agree and the customer service doesn't even send email for status updates. I guess that is going around now - not caring about us
