My 90 yo German grandmother saw an ad online thats said she must buy Stopzilla antivirus program or her computer would not work. My ninety year-old German grandmother saw an ad online on IE browser which told her that she must to purchase StopZilla software product for $300 or her computer would not work.

,500 in the past 2 years

She was then called and told she must download this $300 program for her computer to work and that if she didn't she would no longer be able to receive emails. She was also signed up for recurring monthly payments for the software. She called and cancelled this transaction with her bank and cancelled the debit card. She uninstalled the StopZilla program.

The program is not effective and contains spyware. She also tried calling three different numbers to dispute the charge, but they rang without an answer or message. Those three numbers were: 1-87*-493-****, 1-88*-475-****, 1-87*-493-**** I believe this is a scam. I emailed the company and requested the transaction be voided.

I received an email back from a non-english speaker. Stating:"I am sorry for the misunderstanding with the phone numbers but Not one belong to our company, please contact us trough 188* 803 ****. Or sent your name, or your grandmother name and phone number, We are a company with 100% customer Satisfaction, and will be a please to resolve any misunderstanding.

Thanks Billing at TTSUSA" I've voided the transaction with the bank and now demanded that it be voided on their end without a response. I'm reporting this here and to the FTC.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Stopzilla Cons: I feel as though i was totally scammed and lied to, Thirdpartyinstaller, Ransomware, Transtastic.

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

We are truly sorry for your grandmothers unfortunate experience and would like to figure out where exactly she felt that she or where you felt she was mislead. TTSU never advertises the Stopzilla brand although we are a registered re-seller and have provided thousands of customers with their software.

The numbers posted other than our 888-803-**** which is a customer service number monitored by several agents from 10 am to 10 pm EST.

TTSU handles thousands of calls weekly and have thousands of satisfied customers, our commercial customers rely on our company for every part of there IT support from networking to hosting we have doctors offices, lawyers offices, and many professional businesses, we are not associated to any scam, nor have we misappropriated any of our vendors like Stopzilla, if you feel that your grandmother was misled we will gladly look into at your request, we have three locations in South Florida and hire several Latin employees, but the email generated was in response to your issue, not intended for your character insulting of someones English, we are an US based company, owned and operated by Americans, selling American products to Americans. Our customer service department, and customer relations department are in place for these issues and if you contact us we will fix it for you, thank you and once again please accept our humblest apologize for the confusion.

I am so sorry to hear you had this experience and wanted to send my sincerest apologies that this happened to your grandmother. Unfortunately there are many companies misrepresenting themselves as Antivirus companies even though they are not and they are using actual viruses and rogues to direct purchases to our product without our knowledge or consent.

We constantly monitor our brand to ensure that our products are not being marketed in a deceitful way.

Our company is located entirely in the US (Boca Raton, Florida to be exact). All of our employees are located in the US, and this includes our customer service agents.

If you have called a phone number and received what sounds like an outsourced call center, odds are it's not a legitimate call center.

Regards,

Julie

You might want to do a web search for "stopzilla clean uninstall" or similar as you indicated you uninstalled the program. However, be aware that bits and pieces and other junk including spyware is always left over when you uninstall in the usual manner these programs.

Do a thorough check for any "odd" or unusual programs that were installed along with stopzilla.

Good luck. Zum Gluck.
